A Message from Our President
Dear Butte Central Alumni, Parents, Friends, and Supporters:
During the months of April and May, I set out on a tour of Butte Central Catholic Schools. It was an incredible experience as I visited the classrooms of all 34 teachers in our school system. I truly enjoyed the opportunity to witness amazing educators at work and to see many of the great things that are happening each day in our schools.
Although our teaching faculty consists of diverse personalities and talents, there are several common attributes that emulate throughout our elementary and high school staffs. Our teachers are exceptionally dedicated, and they truly care about their students. I was thoroughly impressed with the high quality of instruction I observed and the personal attention provided each one of our students. The visits were unscheduled, so the time I spent with our students and teachers represented an authentic and genuine snapshot of the BC experience.
Our teachers are well-prepared, and they utilize a wide variety of instructional strategies. From preschool through high school, our small school environment ensures personal attention and individualized learning opportunities.
Another prevailing quality of our learning environment is in the emphasis on prayer and Gospel values. Faith and Christian values are integrated into everything we do as a school. It warmed my heart to pray with our kindergartners and to hear some outstanding presentations on Catholic social teaching by a group of our freshmen. Our teachers integrate prayer and values into every lesson and there is no question we are a faith-based program.
Our classrooms are state-of-the-art, and our teachers employ great balance in their use of technology. All classrooms are equipped with either a Smart Board or a Smart TV and all students are provided with a computer device. For someone my age, it is mind boggling to see first graders doing a math assignment on an iPad or watching our sophomores have webcast group discussions with students from Ireland.
At the conclusion of each visit, my first thoughts were centered on how much I wished I could share in the experience with others The tour absolutely reinforced my great belief that we have a phenomenal program and a wonderful school family.
As we prepare for the 2024-2025 school year, there is great optimism in our schools. Enrollment is growing and there are many new students joining our school family. We are very excited to move to a 4-day school week and we believe the change will strengthen our programs and inspire great achievement.
We are very proud of our growing scholarship program and our commitment to helping all families attend our schools. Thanks to the generosity of many alumni, benefactors, and friends, we will have a record $1.5 million in scholarships available this fall.
In closing, I would like to thank all those who make our schools a reality. We are blessed to have the support of Bishop Vetter, our Chaplain Fr. Craig Hanley, and the entire Butte Catholic community. I would like to extend my appreciation to our High School Principal Denise Chrest and our Elementary Principal Dawn Ann Peterson for their dedication and leadership. I am grateful to all of our teachers, support staff, coaches, and volunteers for all of their time and hard work. I would like to extend our deepest thanks to all those who financially support our students and programs. Finally, I would like to say thanks to our parents and students for choosing Butte Central Catholic Schools.
